Drove up to 21st and R Street in DC and picked up my Indian Visa late this afternoon. As of now, I’m cleared Hot for travel to Indian country ;-) Everyone seems so concerned about my safety while over there. I was probably in much greater danger driving through areas of DC today than I ever will be in Coimbatore.
Well, it’s getting real. Visa in hand, multi-vaccination shot soreness wearing off and airline tickets purchased. Got the In-country security brief check-in-the-box and appointment lined up with lawyer for will update and power of attorney sign off. Yup, getting real.
More good news. I started my next Seminary course today!
The Theology and Practice of Ministry.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
An introduction to the purpose of ministry through the study of the biblical and theological basis for "every member ministry," the rise of clericalism in church history, the equipping church model vs. the dependency model, and the permission-giving church vs. the controlling church. Students will examine approaches to gift discovery and ministry matching.
The course is taught during an eight-week term that includes a course introduction week, six Learning Units, and a learning evaluation week. All units are designed to help the learner fulfill the learning objectives of the course. Learning units may include lecture and research materials, outside reading, learning community discussion, and church-based assignments. The professor serves as a ministry learning mentor, providing almost daily interaction and facilitation among the learners.
Looks like my practical portion of this course will be carried forward during my India mission – Fun fun!!
